Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Mr. Mikhail Bogdanov emphasized on strong campaign against terrorism and Syrian-Syrian talks; the phone call also had Yemeni war as its subject matter.
Amir-Abdollahian and his Russian counterpart assessed Geneva round of Syrian talks as positive and emphasized upon Syrian territorial integrity and national sovereignty; they also voiced gratitude to good offices of the UN special envoy to Syria.
“Syrian people should play a role in deciding the future of their country,” they were unanimous.
On Yemeni crisis, both sides expressed hopes that attempts by UN-affiliated organizations bring a much anticipated ceasefire and secure humanitarian aid in line with the depth of the human disaster in hard-hit country.
The phone call also emphasized upon a similar Yemeni-Yemeni talks with the threat of terrorism looming around. Amir-Abdollahian also made comments on Bahrain political developments, believing that forfaiting nationality of Bahraini citizens and mass arrest violated human rights and called for an efficient solution and an end to unavailing securitization of public space, and adoption of a national dialogue based on democratic principles.
